Certain products that we evaluate may not require extensive testing but align with categories such as smart accessories or space-saving solutions. The ZAGG Deskmat with built-in wireless charging (Qi charging) caught our attention. It offers an elegant, high-quality desk pad that negates the need for a separate mousepad, which can sometimes shift during use.
This desk pad is ideally suited for use with products such as the ZAGG Pro Keyboard 12, which features Qi charging capabilities. However, it can also be utilized to charge compatible mobile phones or earbud cases. Our measurements of the charging performance were consistent with the advertised 10W output.
The desk pad undeniably enhances the aesthetics of a workspace. However, the single charging location may not be optimal for all users. If you are using a laptop, its position could interfere with the placement of a phone on the charging area, especially if you require a natural position for your computer mouse.
We believe the desk pad would benefit from the inclusion of two or even three Qi charging spots. The ability to simply place a mobile phone on the pad, as depicted in ZAGG’s promotional materials, would be a welcome addition. Alternatively, integrating charging spots into the upper corners could provide increased versatility. While these are potential use cases beyond the intended design, they represent possible enhancements.
In conclusion, the ZAGG Desk Mat with wireless charging is a suitable and aesthetically pleasing solution, particularly for users of ZAGG’s keyboard, given the limited availability of Qi-chargeable keyboards. Priced at 500 kronor, the ZAGG Desk Mat with Qi charging offers reasonable value considering its quality, dimensions, and integrated charging capability.
