Eco-Friendly Device Charging
We are currently in an era heavily reliant on readily available device charging solutions. Smartphones, laptops, tablets, wireless headphones, and portable game consoles like the Nintendo Switch all depend on charged batteries to maintain their portability. While power outlets are generally accessible in summer cottages and well-equipped campsites, their availability can be limited on leisure boats and especially scarce within a tent.
Xtorm, a Dutch company, offers a solution with the Evoke Solar Charger (AM121), a power bank designed to be charged via solar energy, even under cloudy conditions. With a 4.5W solar panel and a 10,000mAh capacity, it provides ample power for multiple device charges. Our evaluation of this robust power bank revealed a durable rubberized outer shell, designed to prevent slippage and offer protection against minor impacts and splashes. It features two USB ports, enabling simultaneous charging of two devices (5V/1A + 5V/2.1A). Utilizing advanced solar panel technology, the Evoke achieved a full charge within a few hours under direct sunlight. Its relatively compact and portable design, weighing 366 grams, further enhances its utility. The Evoke can also be charged via a conventional wall outlet. The upgraded solar panels demonstrated effective charging even on overcast days, achieving approximately a 25% charge in about four hours. Approximate price: SEK 1,100.
