av Christoffer Alberti

The HyperX Quadcast S is a stylish, white microphone designed for ease of use. At Senses, we’ve thoroughly tested the HyperX Quadcast S and found it to be a strong contender in the current microphone market. It’s well-suited for users looking to start a podcast or stream gameplay. Indeed, many content creators utilize this microphone for their streams on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

The unboxing experience is a key element of any new tech gadget. Our editorial team appreciates the meticulous process of opening the packaging and removing protective films. Upon opening the box, we immediately noticed a note stating: “HyperX has you covered! Got issues with your HyperX product? Contact our experienced team for quick response and support.” This inclusion adds a personal touch and conveys a sense of reliable support from the company.

The HyperX Quadcast S features customizable RGB lighting, adding an aesthetic element to its functionality. The integrated RGB lighting provides a visually appealing color transition effect. RGB implementation can enhance the professional appearance of a studio or streaming setup. Users can easily manage the colors via the HyperX Ngenuity software, which is automatically launched upon USB connection. This software is consistent across the HyperX accessory ecosystem.

A touch-sensitive mute button located on the top of the microphone allows for quick and easy muting. Activating the mute function also disables the RGB lighting, providing a clear visual indication that the microphone is inactive. This is particularly useful in situations where privacy is needed. Tapping the button again restores both the microphone function and the RGB lighting.

The microphone incorporates an anti-vibration shock mount and a pop filter, both designed to minimize unwanted noise and background sounds, thereby optimizing the audio experience. Four polar patterns are available to suit various recording scenarios. The cardioid pattern, which captures sound primarily from the front, is particularly effective for focusing on the user’s voice while minimizing ambient noise. Stereo mode provides a standard recording configuration suitable for general voice recording. The omnidirectional pattern is ideal for recording multiple speakers simultaneously, as in a podcast setting. Finally, the bidirectional mode is designed for face-to-face interviews, capturing audio from two opposite sides of the microphone.

At a price of 1799 SEK, the HyperX Quadcast S offers a compelling value proposition, delivering ease of use and high-quality sound.

One minor drawback is the absence of a physical volume control on the microphone itself. However, the HyperX Quadcast S excels in its simplicity and ease of operation. This streamlined approach can be beneficial, allowing users to focus on recording tasks, whether during gaming sessions or conducting podcast interviews.
