Today, we examine the latest iteration in this line, the Google Pixel 9a.
First Impression
Upon unboxing the Pixel 9a, the most noticeable change is the omission of the distinct, protruding camera module that has characterized previous Pixel devices. While initially met with some skepticism, this design element had become a familiar and almost essential aspect of the Pixel aesthetic. While continuous YouTube streaming for extended periods may not be feasible, typical usage patterns should allow for two days of operation between charges, especially when utilizing battery-saving features overnight.
The Camera
We, along with many other reviewers, have consistently been impressed by the image quality produced by Pixel phones. Consequently, expectations were high when evaluating the camera capabilities of the Pixel 9a. While the primary camera features a 48-megapixel sensor, it’s important to acknowledge that software processing plays an increasingly critical role in mobile photography. Pixel continues to excel in this area, delivering images with vibrant colors, excellent sharpness, and intelligent scene recognition. In our assessment, the Pixel 9a outperforms many flagship competitors in its price range.
