I was particularly drawn to the original The Division due to its New York setting, a city I first visited in 2010 and have been eager to revisit ever since. Therefore, the announcement that The Division 2 – which I consider an improvement over its predecessor – would receive an expansion allowing a return to New York was welcome news.
Following the disappointing DLC for Predator Hunting Grounds and its Dutch DLC, I tempered my expectations. After a 77-gigabyte download, Warlords of New York was ready, and it was time to return to the Big Apple.
Accessing the expansion is straightforward: a helicopter awaits on the White House lawn for transportation. A minimum avatar level of 30 is required to board. Within New York, players can progress to level 40. Upon arrival, I observed that my Washington-based weaponry and skills had been adjusted, deemed unsuitable for the challenges ahead. Importantly, prior equipment acquisition is not mandatory for enjoying the expansion.
Completing the main Division 2 campaign is also not a prerequisite for venturing to New York, a beneficial design choice. However, a temporary restriction exists: return to Washington D.C. is prohibited until the primary New York storyline is concluded. Afterwards, free travel between the two locations is permitted, allowing for the completion of any remaining side missions.
The Warlords of New York DLC, approximately one-third the size of the base game, is priced around 300 kronor. This represents a worthwhile investment, and I eagerly anticipate future expansions. Division 2 maintains enduring appeal; while periodic breaks may occur, the urge to return frequently arises, leading to extended play sessions driven by the desire for “just one more mission.”
In conclusion, Warlords of New York is a compelling addition, rivaling the original game in its quality. Its well-crafted narrative and meticulous attention to detail exemplify the standards expected of a high-caliber DLC.
