Anker has established itself as a reputable brand, consistently delivering quality products. We recently reviewed their impressive power bank, the “Laptop power bank 165W“.
Consequently, expectations are high for this review of their new, high-capacity 250 W charger, which carries a suggested retail price of SEK 2,299.

Based on initial press materials, we anticipated a bulky charger. However, upon unpacking, we were surprised by its relatively compact size. While it possesses a substantial weight (approximately 640 grams), its dimensions are surprisingly manageable.
The enclosure appears to be metal, but is constructed entirely of plastic with a metallic finish.

The front panel features a display and four USB-C ports. The side incorporates two USB-A ports and a clickable dial for menu navigation.

The display provides clear information, indicating the amperage delivered by each port. In sleep mode, the charger displays the time, resembling a retro clock radio rather than a modern charging device.

The charger is supported by a dedicated application, facilitating configuration, Wi-Fi setup (the charger incorporates Wi-Fi connectivity), and other functionalities. The app offers a comprehensive range of settings, including display preferences and advanced features such as port prioritization. It also provides power output diagrams, displaying historical data for total output and individual ports.

One notable point is the inclusion of a “Secret Functions” mode within the settings:

This section presents several functions that require “unlocking” through “device exploration.” While gamification can be engaging, restricting access to features based on menu interaction may not be ideal for all users.
Regarding charging performance, the unit delivers a total of 250 W, with a maximum of 140 W available via a single USB-C port and 22.5 W via USB-A. When multiple devices are connected, the charger dynamically distributes power unless specific port prioritization is configured.
The charger performs admirably in delivering power to connected devices. Computers, mobile phones, and other devices charge rapidly and reliably. The charger exhibits excellent compatibility, handling a variety of devices without issue. Furthermore, the charger maintains a moderate temperature, remaining lukewarm even under heavy load conditions.
Conclusion
In many respects, this is an exemplary charger, offering ample capacity, an appealing design, and exceptional performance. The primary consideration is whether the features justify the investment. Priced at SEK 2,299 and possessing a significant weight, it may not be the optimal choice for portable use. However, for power users requiring a stationary charging solution for multiple devices, this charger presents a compelling option. For editorial teams such as ours, who frequently test a variety of devices, the convenience of a single, high-capacity charger is invaluable.
The Anker Prime Charger 250W merits a high rating. Beyond its price point and the somewhat unconventional gamification feature, it stands as one of the premier chargers currently available.
