The gaming keyboard market is saturated with options, as manufacturers strive to cater to specific user needs. The continuous emergence of new brands makes it challenging for consumers to navigate this complex landscape. We’ve evaluated the Akko 5075B Plus, a model from a manufacturer relatively new to the Swedish market.
What is Akko 5075B Plus?
The Akko 5075B Plus is a compact 75% form factor keyboard. This design retains approximately 75% of the keys found on a full-size keyboard, omitting the number pad to the right of the arrow keys. This configuration is often favored in PC gaming, as its reduced width allows for greater mouse movement and improved ergonomics. The 5075B Plus also features a control wheel that can be configured for volume or RGB brightness adjustment. Regrettably, we found no option to remap this wheel to alternative functions such as scrolling or zooming.
Connectivity options for the 5075B Plus include USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4 GHz wireless. The keycaps are constructed from PBT plastic, and the switches are hot-swappable. For this review, we tested Akko’s CS Jelly Purple tactile switches. A variety of RGB lighting profiles are available, configurable without the need for dedicated software.

What’s in the box?
The package includes the keyboard, a USB-C cable, keycap and switch pullers, five spare switches, and a selection of yellow accent keycaps. This is a generous offering for the price point. The included tools and extra switches proved particularly useful during testing. We discovered one switch to be non-functional. We were able to replace the defective switch with a spare in under 20 seconds without interrupting our gaming session. Another switch exhibited a double-registration issue. While it’s unfortunate that two switches were faulty out of the box, the ease of replacement mitigates the inconvenience compared to initiating a warranty claim.

How does the 5075B Plus perform?
The 5075B Plus is a compact keyboard designed primarily for gaming, but we also found it suitable for general typing tasks. Its width is comparable to that of a 65% keyboard, such as the Varmilo VA69. The 5075B Plus provides the advantage of a dedicated function row above the number keys, which is often absent on smaller form-factor keyboards, making it versatile for both gaming and productivity. We observed no perceptible latency across all connection types, although the 2.4GHz connection is generally preferable to Bluetooth for gaming due to potentially lower input lag.

The key layout feels natural and avoids the cramped sensation sometimes associated with smaller keyboards. Following a brief acclimation period, we experienced a noticeable improvement (15-25%) in typing speed with a reduction in errors compared to our standard keyboard. The Akko 5075B Plus delivers a pleasant typing experience, a significant achievement for a gaming-oriented keyboard.
Quality
While the 5075B Plus has generally impressed us, some aspects of its build quality warrant attention. The keyboard offers a solid construction, comfortable weight, and respectable finish, especially given its price point. The primary concern is the slight skew of the rotary wheel, a defect observed in other reviews of the 5075B Plus, suggesting a widespread issue. The wheel remains functional, but the misalignment detracts from the overall perception of quality. A secondary issue arose during gaming sessions, where the keyboard exhibited flex under increased pressure. While this did not affect functionality in our short-term testing, users who tend to apply significant force while gaming may want to consider alternative options.

Conclusion
We initially approached the review of the 5075B Plus with the expectation of encountering another unremarkable keyboard vying for a share of the competitive gaming market. However, we were mistaken. This is a capable gaming keyboard that also excels as a writing tool. In fact, one of our editors is now considering purchasing a unit for future reviews. Achieving the same level of functionality offered by the Akko 5075B Plus from alternative manufacturers typically requires a significantly larger investment.
Therefore, if you seek a versatile keyboard suitable for both gaming and typing, and can tolerate minor quality imperfections, the Akko 5075B Plus represents a compelling and affordable option that we recommend.
