A few days ago, we published our review of the Google Pixel 10 Pro. Google, however, introduced two Pro models. Today, we turn our attention to its larger counterpart: the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.
On paper, the phones appear nearly identical. They share the same Tensor G5 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and an identical camera setup. Beyond the form factor, there are minimal distinctions between them. Our previous review therefore provides comprehensive details regarding the camera, AI features, and the overall user experience.
In this review, we will instead focus on these differences and aim to answer the classic question: is bigger always better?
Design and Ergonomics

The most evident distinction when holding both phones is their size. While the Pixel 10 Pro, at 6.3 inches, offers a compact and agile feel, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is a substantial device. Featuring a 6.8-inch screen, it is noticeably taller and wider. It also weighs 232 grams, which is 25 grams more than its smaller counterpart.
Aside from the form factor, the build quality remains identical. Both models feature the same premium feel, characterized by a polished metal frame and a smooth, matte Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back that effectively resists fingerprints. Naturally, both are IP68-rated for dust and water protection.
Even the excellent screen is essentially identical. Beyond the size, there are only negligible differences in resolution and pixel density (imperceptible to the naked eye), while brightness and refresh rate are identical.
Battery and Charging

The most significant distinction between the phones lies primarily in battery capacity and charging capabilities. The Pixel 10 Pro XL features a larger 5,200 mAh battery, compared to 4,870 mAh in the standard Pro model. While this theoretically provides better battery life, the larger screen’s increased power consumption largely offsets this theoretical advantage in practical usage. Consequently, both phones achieve comparable battery life.
Regarding charging speed, the Pro XL model offers a distinct advantage.
Wired charging: With support for 45W (vs. 30W in the Pro), the Pro XL can be charged to approximately 70% in just 30 minutes.
Wireless charging: Both models feature the new magnetic Pixelsnap technology (Qi2), but the Pro XL supports 25W wireless charging, while the Pro model is limited to 15W.
However, as observed during our review of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, very few chargers can actually deliver the full 45W. The device is notably discerning with charger compatibility, and with most chargers, users will achieve a maximum speed of just under 30W.
Performance
As previously mentioned, both phones share the same Tensor G5 chip and 16 GB of RAM, suggesting identical performance. However, there is a difference that is not immediately apparent.
The entry-level Pixel 10 Pro with 128 GB of storage utilizes an older, slower storage standard (UFS 3.1). All other models, including all versions of the Pixel 10 Pro XL, employ the modern, significantly faster UFS 4.0 standard. The Pixel 10 Pro XL also commences with 256 GB of storage.
In practice, this difference is challenging to perceive in daily use, but it becomes evident in synthetic performance benchmarks. This represents an unusual decision by Google; it is an unfortunate omission not to include the faster storage across all Pro models.
Conclusion
Aside from size and price, the primary distinctions are slightly faster charging (contingent on finding a compatible charger) and faster storage compared to the entry-level Pixel 10 Pro.
The recommended price for the Pixel 10 Pro XL with 256 GB is 14,990 kr, while the Pixel 10 Pro with 256 GB costs 13,790 kr (or 12,790 kr with 128 GB).
We posed the question at the outset: Is bigger always better? When it comes to the Pixel 10 Pro series, the answer is not straightforward. Since the camera, processor, and fundamental software experience are identical, a larger size does not necessarily equate to superiority; it ultimately boils down to personal preference. Regardless of which size you choose, you will acquire an excellent smartphone.
Given the striking similarities between the phones, the rating for the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is consequently identical to that of its smaller counterpart.
