Google recently announced this year’s installment of the Pixel series. As dedicated technology enthusiasts, our editorial team has naturally obtained several units for testing. Today, we commence with a review of the Google Pixel 10 Pro.
First Impression: A Familiar Yet Refined Feel
At first glance, the Pixel 10 Pro is immediately recognizable, maintaining Google’s distinctive design language with its characteristic camera module spanning the rear. Upon closer inspection, however, subtle refinements become apparent. The edges are slightly more rounded than the previous model, contributing to a premium in-hand feel. The build quality is, as expected from a Pro model, exemplary. The matte finish on the back is not only stylish but also commendably resistant to fingerprints. However, most users purchasing a mobile phone in this price range will likely opt for a protective case. The expensive official case available from the Google Store is sleek, stylish, and compatible with the new magnetic charging system (more on this later). Yet, we found this particular case to be notably slick, compromising grip security.

Upon powering on the device, the display immediately stands out. The new “Super Actua” display is, without exaggeration, one of the most impressive we have ever encountered. With an adaptive refresh rate that seamlessly transitions between 1Hz and 120Hz, all interactions, from scrolling through feeds to more intensive gaming sessions, are incredibly fluid. However, it is the brightness and color reproduction that truly impress. Even in direct sunlight, the screen remains fully readable, and colors are vibrant without appearing oversaturated. Google reports a typical brightness of 2200 nits, with peak brightness reaching up to 3300 nits in specific modes.
A significant and anticipated new feature is the introduction of Pixelsnap. Google has finally adopted a magnetic standard similar to Apple’s MagSafe. This innovation unlocks a broad ecosystem of accessories, and from our preliminary observations, it appears to be compatible with most existing MagSafe chargers and holders. It’s a welcome addition, long awaited by many in the Android ecosystem, and a clear indication that Google is committed to building a comprehensive ecosystem.
Gemini and AI: Regional Availability and Innovation
As is characteristic of the Pixel series, the core strength of the Pixel 10 Pro lies not just in its hardware, but in its sophisticated software. With the new Tensor G5 chip, Google has engineered a platform built from the ground up for advanced AI capabilities, with Gemini at its core.
What differentiates Google’s implementation from many competitors is the deep integration of AI throughout the system. Gemini isn’t merely a chatbot; it functions as a proactive assistant that anticipates user needs. A new feature that Google highlights, but which is not available in Sweden, is Magic Cue. This function dynamically analyzes context in real-time. For instance, when calling an airline, relevant booking information automatically appears on the screen. If a message requests an address, Magic Cue suggests sharing it directly from contacts or calendar. While this level of integration might raise considerations regarding the extent of personal data Google accesses, as noted, users in Sweden are not subject to this particular feature’s real-time data analysis.

Google states that the Circle to Search feature is now faster and more accurate. However, during our comparative testing between a Google Pixel 10 Pro and a model from the previous series, the respective search results were of comparable quality and appeared on the screen with similar rapidity. Nevertheless, the ability to circle an object in an image or video and immediately retrieve search results remains a remarkably intuitive and powerful capability. Gemini also assists in summarizing lengthy articles, transcribing audio recordings with impressive accuracy, and even drafting emails with an appropriate tone. It’s a comprehensive solution that genuinely represents a significant leap forward. As expected, we observed that Gemini performs slightly better with English than with Swedish.
Despite these innovations, a persistent concern remains. Our editorial team has consistently raised concerns with Google for years regarding Call Screening, one of the most praised Pixel features in the US and other regions. Yet again, a new Pixel generation is launched without this feature being available in Sweden. Our team has inquired with Google’s representatives about this ongoing absence for several years but has received no definitive answers regarding its absence or potential availability. This represents an unfortunate oversight for a phone that otherwise strives to be so intelligent.
The Camera: More Than Just Hardware
A Pixel review is incomplete without a comprehensive evaluation of its camera system. Google has long leveraged its software prowess to produce exceptional images, and the Pixel 10 Pro is no exception. Generally, the phone captures photos with that characteristic “Pixel look” that our editorial team appreciates – sharp, detailed, and with natural color reproduction.

The 50 MP main sensor consistently delivers exceptional results across most lighting conditions. However, it is in combination with the other lenses and the new AI features that the system truly excels. According to Google, the ultrawide camera has been improved and should now provide sharper images with less distortion at the edges; however, this was not something we directly noticed in our comparative tests with previous generations.
The standout feature, however, is the telephoto lens. With a powerful zoom, which Google terms Pro Res Zoom, users can achieve remarkable zoom levels without significant quality degradation. Photographing details on distant buildings or capturing an image of a bird in a tree is not only possible, but highly accessible. The software operates in the background to stabilize the image and reconstruct details. The results are often satisfactory, especially when focusing on landscapes and architecture. It’s an innovative and engaging feature. Google states that this feature is best suited for landscapes rather than people, because when the shutter is pressed in this mode, the phone employs computational techniques to fill in what the camera doesn’t optically capture. While this reconstruction is often effective, results can be less consistent when photographing people from a distance.

Nevertheless, the capability to capture photos from such significant distances is notably impressive. Consider the image below, which we captured from approximately 2.5 kilometers away without a tripod. While evidence of computational photography is discernible, the image clearly identifies the clock tower of the Natural History Museum for local observers in Stockholm.

Differences from Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro XL
This year, Google introduces three models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. The standard Pixel 10 shares the same Tensor G5 chip and many of the AI features but features a slightly smaller screen and a less advanced telephoto lens, offering a simpler overall camera setup. It serves as an excellent alternative for those who desire the Pixel experience in a more compact form factor without requiring the most advanced camera capabilities.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL is functionally identical to the Pro model, distinguished by a larger screen and a larger battery with enhanced fast-charging capability. For users who prioritize media consumption or prefer a larger display, the XL model is the evident choice. In terms of performance and camera capabilities, the two models are identical. We encourage you to read our separate review of the Pixel 10 Pro XL for further details.
Performance and Battery Life
With the Tensor G5 and a generous amount of RAM, performance is consistently fluid and responsive. Apps launch instantly, multitasking is seamless, and even more demanding games are handled effortlessly. Google has also focused on thermal management, and the phone does not exhibit uncomfortable heating even under intensive use, an issue some users noted with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Battery life is an area where Pixel phones have historically offered acceptable performance. The Pixel 10 Pro continues this trend. The battery easily provides a full day of normal use, from morning to evening. However, it is not class-leading. If the phone is subjected to heavy use involving extensive photography, gaming, and GPS navigation, an additional charge may be required before the day concludes. Its performance is neither outstanding nor problematic – it’s simply adequate. Here, however, Google has increased the charging speed compared to the previous generation, a noticeable improvement when using the appropriate charger.
Conclusion
With each new generation, the Pixel series has matured, establishing itself as an increasingly formidable alternative in a market long dominated by two major players. The Google Pixel 10 Pro stands as the clearest evidence yet that Google not only seeks to participate but aims to lead innovation.
The phone impresses with its exceptional screen, first-class build quality, and a camera system that remains among the absolute best.

However, there are notable downsides, such as the adequate but not exceptional battery life, and the continued absence of many praised key features in Sweden. It is challenging to overlook this, as a Pixel 10 Pro without access to all its advanced AI features offers less of a generational leap compared to the previous budget model (Google Pixel 9a), which is also significantly more affordable.
The Pixel series evolves annually, and we hope to see these developmental advancements become globally accessible, including in Sweden. When this happens, the Google Pixel will not only be seen as a compelling alternative to Apple and Samsung; it would present an undeniable challenge to these competitors. Our editorial team, having extensively reviewed every Pixel generation, may hold high expectations, as we frequently find ourselves preferring a Pixel device over other Android counterparts 9 out of 10 times. As is often observed by enthusiasts of other leading platforms: “It just works.” The Google Pixel series is characterized by its thoughtful design and intuitive operation. For Android users new to the Pixel ecosystem, the Google Pixel 10 Pro serves as an excellent modern entry point. For seasoned Pixel users considering an upgrade, the decision hinges on whether an enhanced display, magnetic charging, and improved camera system sufficiently justify the investment.
