Review: Xtorm releases stylish power bank

av senses.se

A common drawback of many power banks (portable, rechargeable USB batteries) is their uninspired design. Often constructed from inexpensive plastics and exhibiting considerable bulk, they may not easily fit into a pocket, nor present an appealing aesthetic during travel, potentially being mistaken for external hard drives.

The Power Bank Connect 5000 (AL460) from Dutch manufacturer Xtorm offers a welcome alternative, combining functionality with an appealing design. Encased in leather, this device resembles a slim battery or a leather-bound smartphone. Weighing 157 grams, it incorporates two integrated charging cables: one for Lightning/Apple devices and one micro-USB for Android and other compatible devices. The power bank supports simultaneous charging via both connections, delivering a charge rate of approximately 5V/2A (2.1A for Apple devices). This results in an approximate battery charge of 1% per minute, which is within acceptable charging parameters. As the name indicates, the battery capacity is 5000mAh, sufficient for slightly more than two full charges of contemporary smartphones.

The Power Bank Connect 5000 is available for purchase in retail stores and via Xtorm’s website for 59 Euro (approximately 575 SEK). While this price point is somewhat elevated considering the capacity, it may be justified for users seeking a more refined and stylish portable charging solution.
