With my increased engagement in PC gaming, the gaming mouse has become an essential peripheral once again. Recently, while reviewing Gears Tactics, I had the opportunity to evaluate the Cooler Master MM711 lightweight gaming mouse.

Upon unboxing, the first impression is the remarkably light weight of the MM711, tipping the scales at just 60 grams. Despite its low weight, the mouse exhibits a robust construction capable of withstanding rigorous gaming sessions. The shell features a matte finish, and the integrated LED lighting provides an aesthetically pleasing look. The buttons offer a tactile click response, while the scroll wheel and third button feel solid and well-engineered. The strategically placed side buttons and overall size of the MM711 make it suitable even for users with larger hands.
My preferred mouse from previous reviews is the Steelseries Rival 710, which I consider a near-perfect fit. Its weight, size, and exceptional precision are all desirable attributes. The Rival 710 also boasts comprehensive programmability and a wealth of features. The Rival 10, its smaller sibling, is also a commendable mouse, though it falls slightly short of the Rival 710’s performance. Unfortunately, the Cooler Master MM711 does not quite reach the same level. While a well-built mouse, it lacks some of the features that elevate its competitors.

For me, the light weight presents both advantages and disadvantages. While it reduces fatigue during extended gaming sessions, I found it to be too light, which detracted from the precision I’ve come to expect from other mice. Furthermore, locating the necessary software for the mouse required a web search, as it was exclusively available for PC and not macOS. This feels less streamlined compared to SteelSeries’ user-friendly software ecosystem.

In conclusion, the Cooler Master MM711 remains a competent mouse with several positive attributes and only a few drawbacks, particularly for certain users. I would still recommend it, as it represents an affordable gaming mouse built for enduring demanding online gameplay.
