Upon lifting the box for the Alloy Elite 2 from HyperX, the substantial weight immediately suggests a premium product. Opening the package and placing the keyboard on the desk, its stability is immediately apparent. This is arguably the heaviest keyboard I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate. After connecting both USB connectors, the system was powered on.

The dual USB connectors are implemented to ensure 100% anti-ghosting capability. For those unfamiliar, “ghosting” occurs when a keyboard fails to register multiple simultaneous key presses due to hardware limitations. While a minor inconvenience during general use, this can be critical in fast-paced gaming scenarios, such as a heated engagement in Terminator. By utilizing two USB connections, the Alloy Elite 2 increases data throughput, effectively eliminating ghosting.

The HyperX Alloy Elite 2 distinguishes itself from many mechanical keyboards with a relatively subdued sound profile. The key switches offer a comfortable and responsive typing experience. The integrated RGB lighting system is visually appealing and easily customizable via a dedicated button. Users also have the option to disable the lighting entirely. A stepless volume control wheel and dedicated media keys provide convenient access to audio adjustments. Constructed around a solid steel plate, the keyboard’s weight and robust build quality suggest durability and suitability for extended gaming sessions.

The Alloy Elite 2 presents a compelling package, but a few minor drawbacks prevent it from achieving a perfect score. Notably, the keyboard exhibits limited compatibility with macOS. While basic functionality is present, the command key (⌘) is non-functional, significantly hindering usability. This is particularly relevant for Mac users, including those within the gaming community. Furthermore, the absence of macOS software support restricts potential workarounds.

In contrast to some competitors, a dedicated wrist rest is not included. While the Alloy Elite 2 offers inherent ergonomic qualities, the inclusion of a wrist rest would have further enhanced user comfort.
In conclusion, the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 remains a highly commendable keyboard. Its robust construction and feature set leave a positive impression, meriting a strong recommendation.
